Old-school, traditionally styled yet classy, the property of Villa S. Anna remains one of the gems of Montepulciano. Simona Ruggeri Fabroni focuses fully on the day-to-day operations at the winery, aided by her daughters Anna and Margherita.
One step into their centuries-old cellar, with natural temperatures, high humidity and a healthy coating of mold lining the walls, might give some visitors pause. However, they’d be missing out on some of the most magical wines produced in the region. On the note of blending, Villa S. Anna continues to use a blend of around 80-85% Sangiovese with varying degrees of Mammolo, Canaiolo, Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to excellent effect. While no new vintages were presented, Villa S. Anna also produces an amazing Vin Santo that is literally like no other; salty-sweet and incredibly deep.
